Electrical work I handle in Atascadero
I'm Adam Keif, a C-10 licensed residential electrician based in San Luis Obispo. Atascadero is one of the areas I work in most, a short drive up the 101 and somewhere I'm on jobs regularly. Residential work is what I focus on, and on the larger lots up here that often means the shop, garage, or ADU on the property too, not just the main house. Most calls up here fall into a few categories.

Ranch homes, larger lots, older wiring
Atascadero is a patchwork of very different homes, and the electrical work changes with the neighborhood. The older Colony homes near the Sunken Gardens and along El Camino Real were wired generations ago, and their panels and circuits often need bringing up to modern loads. Head west toward Morro Road and the San Marcos hills, or out to Garden Farms, and it's larger rural-residential lots with wells, septic, and a detached shop or barn, each with its own wiring to think about. Newer parts of town like Las Lomas on the south end start with more capacity, but plenty of homeowners there are still adding EV chargers and heat pumps their panels were never planned around.
That mix creates electrical work you don't run into as often elsewhere. Well pumps on their own circuits. Subpanels feeding a garage, shop, or ADU across the property. Longer conduit runs than a city lot needs. And panels that were sized before anyone was charging a car or running a heat pump.

Subpanels, garage wiring, and inspections on Atascadero properties
Three requests come up in Atascadero more than anywhere else I work, and they all trace back to the same thing: properties with more than one building on them.

If your garage, shop, or ADU is running off a couple of extension circuits from the house, a subpanel is usually the right fix. Electrical inspections
Homebuyers, sellers, and homeowners whose insurer has asked about the panel call for an electrical inspection. I look at the service, the panel, the grounding, visible wiring, and any outbuilding feeds, then give you a written summary of what is fine, what needs attention, and what it would cost. If the answer is "nothing right now," that is what I will tell you.
How I work
You call or send a quote request. For simple repairs I can often quote by phone. For larger projects like panel upgrades, a shop subpanel, or an ADU, I'll come out and look, at no cost.
You get a written quote before any work begins. Flat-rate where possible, no add-ons you didn't agree to. For troubleshooting, I charge a diagnostic fee that applies toward the repair if you move forward.
When permits are required, and in Atascadero they are for panel work, new circuits, EV chargers, and ADU wiring, I pull them and handle the inspection. Permits go through the City of Atascadero Community Development Department. You don't have to deal with any of it.
